Wash hands. 1] Place the water and butter in a nonstick sauce pot. Bring to a boil. 2] Add rice. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Cover. Simmer over low heat. Stir frequently. simmer 30–40 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. 3] For firmer rice, add less water; for softer rice, add more water. Remove from heat. Rest 5–8 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
