Gordon Food Service Breaks Ground On Their Newest Distribution Center Near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Gordon Food Service broke ground today on its new 420,000-square-foot distribution center at the Findlay Industrial Park in Imperial, PA. Scott Hicks, Sr. Manager of Supply Chain Management, Gordon Food Service; Dennis Davin, Director, Allegheny County Economic Development Department; Brooks Robinson, Director, Southwest Governor’s Action Team, Department of Community & Economic Development; Jerry Cagle, Ohio Valley Division General Manager, Gordon Food Service; and Bill Henderson, Regional Commercial Sales Manager, Gordon Food Service (shown left to right), attended the ceremony. In addition, several state and local officials, and other Gordon Food Service employees and customers were present. The distribution center is projected to be operational in the spring of 2015, and will employ approximately 300 within three to five years.

“We are excited to welcome Gordon Food Service to Allegheny County, where they will bring new jobs and opportunity for Pennsylvanians,” said Governor Tom Corbett. “Pennsylvania’s economy is strong and we are happy to add Gordon Food Service to the ever-growing group of employers expanding in Pennsylvania.”

“We are excited about this expansion to our distribution network, and creating an even stronger presence in the Pittsburgh area. We chose Imperial because of the attractive business climate, the opportunity to further our geographic growth, and the proximity to our many loyal customers in Pennsylvania and the northeast region.” said Jerry Cagle.

The company distributes from 22 distribution centers. The 13 distribution centers in the U.S. are located in Grand Rapids, MI (2); Brighton, MI (2); Kenosha, WI; Greenville, SC; Ocala, Plant City and Miami, FL; Shepherdsville, KY; Springfield, OH; Pottsville, PA. Another distribution center operating as Perkins is located in Taunton, MA. There are 9 distribution centers located in Canada.
