Hundreds of hungry foodies sampled creations from some of the world’s finest cuisine specialists at the recent Chicago Gourmet event hosted by Bon Appetit. The culinary celebration, held on September 26-27, 2019, at Chicago’s Millennium Park, featured a Gordon Food Service tasting tent, where chef-customers from popular Chicagoland eateries showcased their innovative ideas.
Other customers, such as Galit Restaurant partner and executive chef Zach Engel, participated in culinary exhibitions. “I get to show people a little bit of what we’re doing at Galit, and that we are cooking foods different than Chicago has seen before,” Engel said. He demonstrated a pickled vegetable confit, topped with Bulgarian feta, herbs and Aleppo pepper.
The event provided an opportunity for Gordon Food Service customers to shine amongst the Chicago foodie and Instagram influencer set. The customers in attendance that served up delicious tastings included: 90th Meridian, Houndstooth, Irazu, El Jefe, Longman & Eagle, Flora Fauna, Friistyle, and Gale Street Inn.
“Chicago Gourmet provides a tremendous opportunity for our customers to showcase their dishes and operations,” said John Willard, Great Lakes West Division director of commercial sales. “It also reinforces Gordon Food Service as a leader in the commercial culinary space.”
