Gordon Food Service is hiring an Strategic Procurement Analyst. This candidate manages the Request for Proposal (RFP) process in collaboration with lead category buyers (LCBs); which includes developing request for proposals, assisting vendors, developing cost analysis tools, and providing continual support to team members.  Provides RFP analysis and recommendations to support the Lead Category Buyer with negotiation strategies and sourcing recommendations. Creates and maintains tools to track realized savings, progress of projects, and purchase agreements. Assists and drives excellence in broader procurement objectives and initiatives through strategic thinking, process improvements, and data analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads in managing the annual and long range plans for reviewing our product groups, and establishing time and savings targets for this activity. 

  • Develops, maintains and enhances systems and tools that clearly project Procurements’ financial impact. 

  • Identifies gaps and opportunities in supplier proposals related to product cost, freight, and supply chain solutions. 

  • Leads and prepares team members in CMR Phase I (calendar creation).  Provides documents detailing volume, vendor mix, and contract expiration.  

  • Responsible for CMR Phase II activities including the development of item information, coordination and organization of RFP tools and communications, the first point of contact for vendor questions, population of analysis tools, and assistance in interpretations of tool outputs.  

  • Provides timely and accurate assistance to team members, including updating data, developing special reporting, and crafting other needed improvements.  Anticipates and meets specific needs and requests for each review.

  • Maintains and improves advanced cost analysis files to determine various pricing scenarios.  Special emphasis must be given to evaluation across multiple divisions, product conversions, freight optimization, and targets for realized savings. 

  • Creates and manages files to track negotiated and realized savings by review, category, and department.  Ensures that the most accurate means to observe, track, and predict savings amounts are available in various formats (e.g., charts, graphs). 

  • Constructs useful tools to track procurement savings and timing of each CMR.   

  • Owns Vendor Involvement Process (VIP) reporting, involving organization of data, vendor maintenance, and sending of reports.  Initiates, creates, and enhances VIP scoring scenarios and grading scales and runs statistical models to evaluate these methods.

  • Responsible for Agreement process including developing agreements, managing agreement completion through signing, and utilizing legal and LCBs across all category to ensure timely completion.  Reports agreement statistics to drive efficiency and reduce risk to GFS.

  • Manages all agreement documentation in a formal repository, ensuring that past drafts as well as current signed agreements are properly organized, protected and available for future review. Reports out metrics that holds LCBs accountable and reduces risk to GFS.

  • Assists NA Director of Strategic Procurement leadership in preparing reports and presentations on realized savings, enhanced processes, and other crucial activities for senior leadership and other vital groups.  

  • Assists team members in atypical procurement strategies.  Assists in evaluating and working on projects involving e-procurement and other opportunities.

  • Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of large scope and complexity.  Refers to policies and practices for guidance.

Experience:

  • Bachelor degree

  • Two years previous business experience in any of supply chain, finance, or applicable equivalent with demonstrated ability to develop business acumen in previous role(s) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Adherence to the company’s hybrid work policy is an essential function of the Strategic Procurement Analyst position.  The policy is subject to change, and employees will be required to adhere to those changes as a condition of their continued employment.

  • 1300 Gezon Pkwy, Wyoming MI 49509

  • Hybrid Schedule 3 days in office 2 days remote

  • Monday to Friday

  • 8 am to 5 pm
