Position Summary:

The Food Safety Supplier Compliance Specialist leads GFS supplier community engagement and drives accountability for compliance to food safety and quality expectations and company goals. 

What you will do:

Develops & Owns: 

  • Supplier Quality Management System

  • Supplier approval program 

  • Supplier food safety regulatory compliance program

  • Supplier food fraud program

  • Supplier-related Quality Manual documents 

  • Systems support and training to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

Tracks & Reviews: 

  • Supplier food safety third party audits

  • Regulatory compliance for new foreign suppliers and items 

  • Occasional product recalls both during and after business hours and on weekends, includes managing the entire recall process, from product isolation to customer communication, in addition to any follow-up communication with regulatory agencies (shared responsibility with other Recall Coordinators).  

  • Traceability activities in support of regulatory requests.

Provides: 

  • Expertise on support on FSQA supplier subject matter 

  • Solutions for GFS supplier engagement, collaboration and compliance (e.g., FDA Food Traceability Rule Compliance, ERP system, Recall Communication Tool, etc)

  • Supplier assessment dashboards, Key Performance Indicators and reporting

  • Secondary coverage for the Quality Assurance e-mail box 

When you will work:

  • Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

  • Hybrid schedule, with 4 days in office in Wyoming, MI and 1 day remote

  • Occasional work outside of standard business hours and on weekends may be required when you are on-call

What you will bring to the table:

  • Proven record of successful collaborative project management 

  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence stakeholders and gain buy in

  • Three to five years  of previous experience in quality assurance, quality control and/or food safety is required.  Experience in food manufacturing, quality control process management and data reporting/analysis is preferred.

  • Certification in Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), HACCP, GFSI (Preferred)
