Position Summary:
Supervises warehouse receiving personnel and activities of Gordon Food Service (GFS) distribution centers. Assigns staff and monitors flow of products through the distribution center.
Essential Functions:
Directs the safe and cost effective operation of warehouse receiving.Schedules and maintains warehouse receiving personnel.
Assists in the development and enhancement of inventory control and receiving and stocking procedures.
Coordinates receiving activities with Purchasing Department.
Collaborates with third party services.
Instructs and monitors personnel in use of equipment.
Develops, monitors and controls overall departmental budget and supplies.
Prepares weekly performance scores for individual employees, monitors employee’s incentive pay (WCS) and time and attendance system to make necessary adjustments as appropriate.
Interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.
Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc. Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
Mathematical knowledge to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies.
Must have a basic understanding of DOT, OSHA, EEOC and other related regulatory agencies and laws
Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
