The Service Technician provides Gordon Food Service (GFS) customers with timely, proper service on equipment within the market area and effectively manages parts and equipment expenses. This includes installation, preventative care and maintenance to different coffee machines, juice machines, dishwashers and chemical dispensing machines for a variety of customers including national accounts, healthcare, college and university, hospitality and large independent food service operators.
This position will be supporting Lowell, Saugus, Lawrence, Middleton, MA and the surrounding area.

Essential Functions:
Coordinates and performs scheduled installs and preventative maintenance and service according to GFS’ predetermined standards.
Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments and hand tools.
Penetrates existing service accounts to grow territory sales and completes a territory schedule that is maintainable.
Develops and maintains industry expertise. Provides appropriate equipment and technical support to Product Specialists and Customer Development Specialists (CDS). Supports the company-preferred equipment.
Utilizes Metrx/Mobile software to log all field activity and completes all paperwork in a timely manner.
Establishes rapport and communicates professionally with internal and external customers.
Establishes goals in support of department initiatives to include reducing expenses, increasing productivity, increasing sales growth, and improving reporting.
Utilizes time effectively to reach weekly, monthly, and yearly goals. Plans each day accordingly to meet the daily work plans.
Provides emergency services on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis. Efficiently provides follow-up on requested projects.
Provides appropriate equipment and technical support to Product Specialists and Customer Development Specialists (CDS). Supports the company-preferred equipment.
Communicates changes or opportunities to the Regional Field Service Manager, Product Specialists and CDS involved.
Serves as a resource or contact for the department to assigned areas of responsibilities.
Performs in-service pertaining to equipment use and operation.
Performs cycle counts on parts and equipment inventory.
Attends and participates in appropriate meetings.
Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc. Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday between 7AM – 6PM, however this position requires flexibility to provide exceptional customer service. Opportunity for overtime up to 10 hours per week.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Mechanical Aptitude – displays strong mechanical aptitude; adheres to all electrical, plumbing, health and sanitation codes; adheres to safety protocols. Knowledge of products, equipment, and tools needed to complete the tasks required of this job (install/maintain/fix). Ability to correctly interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Sales & Marketing – Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques.
Customer Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; ability to display professional quality work and service.
