Position Summary:

Presents a positive image while serving as liaison between Gordon Food Service (GFS) management and its customers. Communicates all customer issues and concerns. Operates GFS equipment in a professional and safe manner demonstrating attention to detail, safe work habits, working knowledge of refrigerated van, and the ability to deal effectively with customers and the public.

Essential Functions:

  • Stamp upwards of 3,000 cases with official USDA stamp to ensure clearance for inspection

  • Monitor and load containers for shipment using a pallet jack

  • Coordinates with internal staff and third-party service providers to load products into on-site containers based on USDA specification

  • Works closely with on-site USDA officer to ensure compliance of established guidelines

  • Visits USDA Veterinary Office for processing of paperwork daily

  • Delivers and picks-up paperwork from various governmental agencies as needed

  • Picks-up product from vendors as assigned

  • Makes deliveries to customers, freight forwarders, and shipside locations as needed

  • Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries of GFS products

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors

  • Accurately collects customer payments and manages customer paperwork to include signed invoices, credits, inspection documentation, etc.

  • Performs proper equipment maintenance, monitors reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in timely manner.

  • Collaborates with management and International sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.

  • Performs daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • This position requires punctuality, good verbal, problem solving, and listening skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and also function in a team environment.

  • Must be goal oriented with a positive attitude and be able to read, write and understand the English language. 

  • Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures.

  • Basic computer skills.
