The Data & Insights Analyst is responsible for leveraging data and analytics to drive business decisions, support strategic initiatives, and provide fact-based insights into customer behavior, market trends, and industry dynamics. This role ensures that business strategies are data-driven and aligned with growth opportunities, customer needs, and operational efficiencies.
Essential Functions:
Represents customer and industry insights in the business, ensuring strategies are based on fact-driven data.
Investigates micro/macro food related trends, culinary shifts, and segment dynamics to provide strategic insights for sales and marketing.
Conducts customer segment, sub-segment, and trend analysis to assess overall business performance across various customer groups.
Analyzes external factors affecting the foodservice industry to support long-range strategic planning, market development, and sales targeting.
Investigates market areas using economic, geographic, and demographic variables to assess foodservice market growth potential.
Conducts pre- and post-purchase customer analysis, providing recommendations for marketing initiatives and customer engagement strategies.
Monitors product sales, SKU performance, and category trends within customer segments.
Provides and supports market-share analysis and potential account identification.
Converts data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations to support business objectives.
Designs and produces reports that support Business Managers with recommendations for improved sales and marketing initiatives.
Develops and executes reporting of customer interactions, analyzing the impact on key business metrics.
Supports strategic initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Develops dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, market trends, and customer behavior.
Manages the implementation and design of an ongoing market intelligence database, collecting and analyzing data on customers and competitors.
Automates reporting processes to enhance efficiency and ensure timely access to insights.
Establishes partnerships across the organization and with external research suppliers to enhance data-driven decision-making.
Translates complex data into business-friendly insights and presents findings to leadership teams.
Works closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to align data-driven insights with business objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Research & Market Analysis – Strong understanding of research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques, and customer segmentation.
Data Management & Reporting – Proficiency in database management, data querying, report-building, and measuring business impact.
Business & Financial Acumen – Knowledge of ROI calculations, customer lifetime value, and business impact measurement.
Technology & Systems – Experience with Microsoft Access, Google Apps, and proprietary sales/reporting systems.
Sales & Marketing Insights – Understanding customer behavior, competitive analysis, and market intelligence for strategic planning.
Technical Proficiency – Strong skills in database queries, measurement tools, and report development.
Project Management – Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and drive projects efficiently.
Communication & Collaboration – Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and communicate data needs effectively.
Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking – Ability to develop solutions to complex problems using established precedents and data insights.
Attention to Detail & Organization – Ability to manage and analyze large datasets while maintaining accuracy.
