Gordon Food Service Breaks Ground on Their Newest Distribution Center Near Atlanta, Georgia

Gordon Food Service broke ground today on its new 445,000-square-foot distribution center in Douglasville, GA. Tom Croteau, Deputy Commissioner for Global Commerce of the Georgia Department of Economic Development; Harvey Persons, Mayor of the City of Douglasville; Gordon Food Service Chief Exective Officer Jim Gordon; and Atlanta Division General Manager Brian Zylstra were in attendance. In addition, several state and local officials, and Gordon Food Service employees were also present. The distribution center is projected to be operational in the winter of 2015, and will employ approximately 200 within three years.

Persons said, “We are excited about this ground breaking that is truly the culmination of a collaborative effort between the state, local community, and business leaders. All of these entities working together have helped bring us to this day. We are blessed to have a company such as Gordon Food Service select our community as they continue to grow and strive to achieve their goals of providing heart-felt service, and uncompromising value to their customers.”

The company distributes from 21 distribution centers in North America. The 12 distribution centers in the U.S. are located in Grand Rapids, MI (2); Brighton, MI (2); Kenosha, WI; Greenville, SC; Plant City and Miami, FL; Shepherdsville, KY; Springfield, OH; and Pottsville, PA. Another distribution center operating as Perkins is located in Taunton, MA. A second new distribution center will open in the spring of 2015 in Pittsburgh, PA. There are additionally 9 distribution centers located in Canada.
