These preferences are supporting the rise of non-dairy beverages or alternatives and consumption is skyrocketing across the board. Sales of almond beverages are growing at 80 percent annually while consumption of milk is declining. This shows the increase in popularity and consumer demand of dairy free products.<\/p>\n<h2>Foods that contain Dairy:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Butter, butter fat, butter oil, butter acid, butter ester(s)<\/li>\n<li>Buttermilk<\/li>\n<li>Casein<\/li>\n<li>Casein hydrolysate<\/li>\n<li>Caseinates (in all forms)<\/li>\n<li>Cheese<\/li>\n<li>Cottage cheese<\/li>\n<li>Cream<\/li>\n<li>Curds<\/li>\n<li>Custard<\/li>\n<li>Diacetyl<\/li>\n<li>Ghee<\/li>\n<li>Half-and-half<\/li>\n<li>Lactalbumin, lactalbumin phosphate<\/li>\n<li>Llactoferrin<\/li>\n<li>Lactose<\/li>\n<li>Lactulose<\/li>\n<li>Milk (in all forms, including condensed, derivative, dry, evaporated, goat\u2019s milk and milk from other animals, low-fat, malted, milkfat, non-fat, powder, protein, skimmed, solids, whole)<\/li>\n<li>Milk protein hydrolysate<\/li>\n<li>Pudding<\/li>\n<li>Recaldent<\/li>\n<li>Rennet casein<\/li>\n<li>Sour cream, sour cream solids<\/li>\n<li>Sour milk solids<\/li>\n<li>Tagatose<\/li>\n<li>Whey (in all forms)<\/li>\n<li>Whey protein hydrolysate<\/li>\n<li>Yogurt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Dairy-Free Alternatives:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Soy, almond, coconut, hemp, and rice milk<\/li>\n<li>Dairy free frozen desserts, spreads, creams, cheeses, and yogurts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Current U.S. food labeling regulations allow for an item to be labeled as \u201cnon-dairy\u201d even if it has casein in it, a milk protein. The ingredient statement on nondairy products will list \u201ccasein\u201d or \u201ccaseinates\u201d and the word \u201cmilk\u201d if it is an ingredient.
