{"id":3984,"date":"2014-11-25T21:14:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-26T03:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/live-gordon-food-service.pantheonsite.io\/fda-issues-final-menu-and-vending-machine-labeling-requirements\/"},"modified":"2023-02-01T14:17:54","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T20:17:54","slug":"fda-issues-final-menu-and-vending-machine-labeling-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gfs.com\/es-us\/ideas\/fda-issues-final-menu-and-vending-machine-labeling-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA Issues Final Menu and Vending Machine Labeling Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finalized two rules requiring that calorie information be listed on menus and menu boards in chain restaurants and similar retail food establishments. &nbsp;Also, additional nutrition information will need to be made available to consumers, upon request.<\/p>\n<p>The menu labeling final rule applies to restaurants and similar retail food establishments if they are part of a chain of 20 or more locations, doing business under the same name, and offering for sale substantially the same menu items.<\/p>\n<p>Including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Amusement Parks<\/li>\n<li>Bakery and Coffee Shop Treats<\/li>\n<li>Certain Alcoholic Beverages<\/li>\n<li>Drive-Thrus<\/li>\n<li>Foods Ordered from a Menu Board at Grocery Stores<\/li>\n<li>Foods Prepared On Site at Convenience Stores and Gas Stations<\/li>\n<li>Foods Prepared On Site at Warehouse Stores<\/li>\n<li>Hot Food Bars<\/li>\n<li>Movie Theaters<\/li>\n<li>Restaurants<\/li>\n<li>Salad Bars<\/li>\n<li>Take-Out Food<\/li>\n<li>Treats for Immediate Consumption at Ice Cream Stores<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Restaurants and similar retail food establishments that are covered, including those that voluntarily register with FDA to comply with the menu labeling requirements, <strong>will have one year from the date of publication of the menu labeling final rule to comply with the requirements<\/strong><strong style=\"line-height: 19.9939994812012px;\">&nbsp;(November 2015)<\/strong><strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>vending machine final rule<\/strong> requires operators who own or operate 20 or more vending machines to disclose calorie information for food sold from vending machines.
