Michael Rossman, Director, Pennsylvania Governor\u2019s Action Team and Gordon Food Service Executive Vice President Randy Plekker attended the ceremony along with several state and local officials and Gordon Food Service employees.<\/p>\n<p>The distribution center, located in portions of Cass and Foster Townships, is projected to be operational in October 2009 and will employ nearly 100 full-time employees when fully operational.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGordon Food Service is excited about the opportunities this will create within the Pottsville community and the new multi-unit growth prospects for our company in the North Eastern United States,\u201d said Randy Plekker, Executive Vice President.<\/p>\n<p>The Pottsville facility will be the company\u2019s eleventh and eastern-most distribution center in the United States. Currently, Gordon Food Service has distribution centers in Grand Rapids (2), and Brighton (2), Michigan; Springfield, Ohio; Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Greenville, South Carolina; and Ocala and Miami, Florida. In addition, a distribution center in Kenosha, Wisconsin is currently under construction.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon Food Service, founded in 1897, is North America\u2019s largest family-owned and managed broadline foodservice distributor. Gordon Food Service is an international corporation offering more than 16,000 GFS and nationally branded products to over 45,000 customers in 15 states within the U.S. and throughout Canada.
