You can follow all of the CDC\u2019s guidelines and procedures in the restaurant, but if your staff aren\u2019t following the CDC\u2019s recommended social distancing guidelines in their personal life, they can put your restaurant at risk. A particularly vital element to your COVID response is making sure your staff know what to do if they are exposed or test positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Internal Policy Should Include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employee behavior expectations<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trust20.co\/blog\/social-distancing-hospitality\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#x200d;How you will prioritize your employee\u2019s health and safety<\/a><\/li>\n<li>&#x200d;Responses to a COVID exposure and\/or positive test<\/li>\n<li>Updates to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.restaurant.org\/downloads\/pdfs\/business\/covid19-family-response-act.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">employee benefits from the Family First Response Plan<\/a><\/li>\n<li>&#x200d;Process for returning to work<\/li>\n<li>&#x200d;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicago.gov\/city\/en\/sites\/covid-19\/home\/emergency-travel-order.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Out-of-state<\/a> or international travel policy<\/li>\n<li>Local resources for testing<\/li>\n<li>Employee accountability<\/li>\n<li>How you plan to communicate any changes, including temporary shutdowns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your staff must clearly understand expectations of their behavior both inside and outside of the workplace. In the workplace, that starts with distributing a copy of your COVID-19 response plan, and making sure every employee follows your guidelines while working. Outside of the workplace, that means making sure your employees understand how their behavior can increase the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasize the importance of wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining six feet of distance, and large gatherings.
