Our Stores Refrigeration Service Specialist manages and oversees the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and refrigeration systems and/or components necessary to maintain efficient operation of all related systems within the Gordon Food Service Store locations.
How you will make an impact in this role?
Facilities Management: Responsible for the correct diagnostic, troubleshooting and resolution of refrigeration, MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) and energy management equipment repairs, replacements and installations. Performs equipment audits to document condition with in the asset management program to drive our annual operating plan.
Financial Management: Provides input for expense and capital budgets for assigned planned projects and facility accounts. Routinely reviews, monitors, manages, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action to develop plans when necessary.
People Development: Provides mechanical and refrigeration related training to facilities team, store management teams working with the training department,regional teams, or on a one-on-one basis. Participates in the development of, and executes training for vendors to ensure proper maintenance procedures are executed.
Program Management: Participates in the development, training and implementation of repair and maintenance programs that enable the store management teams to handle routine, minor, or urgent situations.
Project Management: Participate in planning, specification, scope development, installation, execution and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), refrigeration projects and upgrades for new and existing stores. Provides on-site support and direction to contracted vendors, both project and service related. Ensures all work meets or exceeds all local, state, and/or federal codes.
Vendor Management Program: Requests and reviews quotes from mechanical, electrical and plumbing and refrigeration contractors and vendors. Chooses and hires appropriate companies to partner with to complete each project within the budget parameters. Negotiates and enforces pricing and service levels. Oversees and provides direction to these contractors and/or vendors.
Develops and maintains documented policies, procedures, specifications and processes.
Conducts research and reports on best practices, new technology, equipment, processes, etc that could create increased efficiencies and cost savings for our stores.
Follows all safety rules and regulations, utilization of personal protection equipment, and abides by established quality standards.
Does this sound like you?
At least five (5) years experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building control and supermarket refrigeration systems in conjunction with at least two (2) years of project management experience required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience with multi-unit retail operation is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in construction or facilities management OR Facilities Management Program Certification (preferred).
Refrigerant Use License (required) and Mechanical License (preferred).
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record per GFS policy (required).
Travel Requirements: Frequent, up to 75% day travel with occasional nights and weekends with availability to respond to emergencies 24/7.
Successfully pass our pre-employment checks, including a drug screen and criminal background check.
Skilled in use of computer software including; spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, facilities management software, energy management, asset management software, control systems applications, e-mail and internet software applications. Ability to learn other systems related to facilities and work remotely utilizing technology.
