Position Summary:

Oversees strategic marketing activity and support for key customers and internal teams in alignment with divisional goals and objectives.  Manages customer-facing teams of marketing specialists in the areas of business solutions, culinary, and product, in an assigned region.

Essential Functions:

  • Drives relevant business, culinary, and product solutions to key customers through the activities of the customer marketing team(s).

  • Aligns strategies and activities to complement the initiatives of the Sales and Marketing teams, with the ultimate goal of increasing the overall market share of Gordon Food Service.

  • Supports the planning and execution of industry, sales and marketing events, divisional sales and marketing meetings, marketing campaigns, and food shows that align with the long-range plan and divisional goals. 

  • Ensures consistent and relevant product, culinary, and business solution training for sales and specialist teams.

  • Determines and appropriately manages the budget and expenses of the customer support team in the assigned region.

  • Manages a team of divisional customer-facing specialist(s). May interview, hire, train, and retain staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them. Develops succession plans.  

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service, mentoring, interpersonal and communication skills.  

  • Must be able to develop, refine, communicate, and implement plans and to set and define goals.  

  • Must maintain knowledge of industry trends and be able to provide training on the technical aspects of commercial or non-commercial segments.  

  • Must have industry and segment knowledge and be able to analyze and interpret data.  

  • Must have good time management, administration, and organizational skills.  

  • Must be able to build relationships, network, influence, and link resources to plan and execute business practices.  

  • Must have the ability to multitask and be able to work exceptional hours including evenings and weekends

  • Be willing to take on new responsibilities with a strong desire to succeed.  

  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.  Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives

  • Strategies on how to effectively manage your territory
